Why this test matters
The intermediate plateau is where most typists give up. You're fast enough that everyday tasks feel fine, but slow enough that you know you should be faster. The way through is consistency, not intensity: a 1-minute test daily for two weeks usually adds 5โ10 WPM. The bigger leap (60 โ 80 WPM) typically takes 4โ6 weeks of focused 15-minute sessions. The test below defaults to 1 minute โ the right format for tracking week-over-week improvement.
