Why this test matters
Advanced typists don't lose speed because their fingers can't keep up — they lose it because their attention does. A 1-minute test rewards burst focus; a 3-minute test exposes whether you can sustain it. Most people topping 90 WPM in 1-minute tests drop to 75–80 WPM over 3 minutes, which is the gap that matters for real-world output. Train against the longer format and the gap closes. Top 1% typists routinely sustain 120+ WPM over 3-minute and 5-minute tests; the world record sits north of 230 WPM on standardized prose.
