Why this test matters

Touch typing in Spanish is meaningfully different from English. The accented vowels and the ñ require dead-key combinations on QWERTY layouts, which slow most typists down 5–10 WPM until the muscle memory clicks. The test below currently uses common English words while we build out the Spanish word corpus (shipping in v2). For now, use it as a general-purpose fluency test; expect dedicated Spanish content with full accent and punctuation handling later this year.

Frequently asked questions

What's the average typing speed in Spanish?
Native Spanish typists average 35–50 WPM, slightly lower than English averages due to longer average word length.
Do I need a Spanish keyboard layout?
Not strictly — accents work via dead keys on US QWERTY, but a Spanish ISO layout is faster once trained.
When will full Spanish content ship?
v2 — within the next 90 days. Bookmark this page for updates.
