Why this test matters
If you only take one typing test this year, make it a 3-minute test. The duration is long enough that your real sustained WPM emerges (typists often start fast, slow down, then stabilize around minute two), and it's the format used by most professional typing assessments — including those for transcription, court reporting, and medical scribing roles. Expect your 3-minute score to be 5–10 WPM lower than your 1-minute score; that gap is normal and reflects the cognitive load of staying focused for longer.
